Equis is a set of organizations working to create a better understanding of Latinos, innovate new approaches to reach and engage them, and invest in the leadership and infrastructure for long-term change and increased engagement.

Since 2019, we have served as a hub of Latino polling, qualitative insights, and data, with analysis based on a large set of interviews, focus groups, online journals, ethnographies, and vote simulations. Equis is a leader in digital innovation, focused on message testing and experiments, anti-disinformation tracking, and digital capacity-building for grassroots groups. Equis is also committed to developing Latino leaders across the progressive space, serving as a convener of organizations and individuals leading Hispanic-focused programs.

In 2022, Equis launched Moonshots, a set of bold, ambitious initiatives to massively increase Latino power, influence and belonging in the US.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Partnerships and Program Implementation, Equis is seeking a Capacity Building Manager to lead the development and execution of Equis’ capacity building strategy, and to design, support and provide external trainings for Equis partners. A successful candidate will be passionate about connecting people with resources, will have experience in partner development and 1:1 support, and will be able to assess partner needs by conducting interactive gaps analysis sessions. The role will conduct small and large scale trainings with our partners and connect partners with vendors and trainers. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced environment, across different teams and departments, and will be as detail oriented as they are passionate about the issues affecting Hispanic and Latino communities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Socialize Equis Resources and Insights with Key Stakeholders

  • Position Equis as a public utility to national and state-based training organizations and campaigns.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration with mission-aligned, national and local, training and capacity building organizations and campaigns.
  • Lead the work to get Equis resources/insights shared far and wide across the progressive movement.

Conceptualize, Develop and Execute Equis’ Capacity Building Strategy

  • With the support of the Director of Partnerships and Program Implementation, lead a collaborative process to assess Equis partners’ critical gaps/needs, review our current products and services
  • Develop short and long-term capacity building plans that match partners’ needs with existing resources.
  • In collaboration with SVP of Partnerships & Communications and the Director of Partnerships & Program Implementation, work with senior leadership to make sure Equis’ capacity building strategies are deeply aligned with organizational goals.
  • Manage existing and identify new services/support needed by Equis partners, including trainings, workshops, and other learning offerings.

Trainings

  • Serve as primary contact for partner trainings and capacity building opportunities, including liaising with appropriate staff when needed.
  • Design, support, and provide trainings to Equis partners
  • Connect Equis partners to specialized trainers or vendors
  • Lead the development of Equis’ training calendar, while maintaining knowledge of new methods and techniques for trainings and capacity building.
  • Ensure training milestones and goals are met.

Partner Support

  • Provide individualized/customized support to Equis partners.
  • Work closely with internal Equis teams and departments to build a strong feedback loop between partner needs and Equis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of professional experience in training and development management in political advocacy, movement building and civic engagement, or campaign related work.
  • Track record in designing and executing successful training/capacity building programs.
  • Passion for training and development.
  • Research, data, and polling experience or familiarity with research methods.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse groups and people, including across departments and teams internally and externally at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, drive progress, share vision, adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to facilitate and moderate large groups.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of advanced training and development management in political, electoral, advocacy, and campaign environments.
  • Familiar with movement, field and digital organizing trainings and adult learning methods
  • Experience supporting teams/coalitions.
  • Experience working with Latino communities in the West/Southwest.
  • Spanish language fluency (reading, writing, speaking).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • The ability to communicate with colleagues, partners, and clients via phone, video call, and email
  • This position requires the ability to travel 25-35% of the time which may encompass all or part of the work day. Travel may involve transportation via airplane, car travel, or trains and for extended periods of time.

LOCATION

Remote (USA), with frequent domestic and international travel according to CDC guidelines, which may increase to frequent travel depending on time of the year. Equis has implemented a pro vaccination policy, subject to exemptions. Candidates must be willing to follow the established policy to prevent and limit the exposure of COVID-19.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Equis is a national remote office environment with team members located across all continental U.S. time zones. Candidates should be prepared to either work from home or a location of their choosing that is located within the continental United States.

This position requires the ability to work core hours Monday through Friday in your local time. This position will require occasional nights and weekend work and some in-person attendance for all-staff or department level events, approximately 2 per year, which require overnight travel.


EMPLOYEE STATUS - Full-Time

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a fully remote (USA only), full-time position, Exempt with occasional domestic travel and a competitive salary range of $78,000 - $105,000/year. This salary range represents a good faith estimate of what Equis may pay for this position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as budget availability and commensurate with the selected candidates’ experience. This position is currently funded through 2025.
